Southeastern Michigan Association of Neonatal Nurses promotes legislation and regulatory initiatives to:
PROTECT HUMAN RIGHTS OF INFANTS AND THEIR FAMILIES, by: ¨ Defining health care as an essential human right. ¨ Advocating for non-discrimination in health care policy and regulations. ¨ Promoting sensitive and competent care for all infants and their families. ¨ Supporting informed choice in health care of infants and their families. ¨ Protecting privacy and confidentiality.
PROMOTE HEALTH CARE AND SAFETY OF INFANTS AND THEIR FAMILIES, by: ¨ Advocating for nursing care by qualified providers. ¨ Assuring access to quality health care services. ¨ Supporting coordinated delivery systems that assure quality and continuity of care. ¨ Supporting programs that address health promotion and prevention of disease/disability.
ADVANCE THE PRACTICE OF NEONATAL NURSING, by: ¨ Supporting the viability of nursing organizations. ¨ Pledging support for funding of nursing education and research. ¨ Supporting occupational health and safety of nurses. ¨ Supporting economic and employment rights of nurses. ¨ Advocating for access and equitable utilization of advanced practice nurses as care providers. ¨ Supporting direct reimbursement of nursing services.
