About SMANN . . . Southeastern Michigan Association of Neonatal Nurses (SMANN) was chartered in 1991 as the 37th chapter of the National Association of Neonatal Nurses (NANN). It has since been the recipient of the NANN Chapter of the Year Award in 1994, 1996, 1998, 2001, 2003, and 2006. Membership is comprised of ninety-seven members representing seventeen area hospitals.
SMANN remains committed to its goals to: ¨ facilitate the exchange of information and collegiality among neonatal nurses; ¨ improve neonatal nursing practice through education and research efforts; ¨ provide input into health policy regarding infants, families, and the nursing profession; ¨ increase public awareness of the association through the support of community activities; ¨ support individual member participation in the association; ¨ maintain financial stability and growth of the association; and ¨ promote the health of neonates and their families.
SMANN's achievements are accomplished through the dedicated work of the following committees: ¨ Communications, ¨ Community Projects, ¨ Education & Practice, ¨ Finance, ¨ Legislative, ¨ Membership, and ¨ Public Relations.
